Before Sunday’s Angelus Prayer, Pope Francis called for a cease-fire in the Middle East and asked that we pray for peace.

“I extend a heartfelt appeal to all of you to continue to pray earnestly for peace in the Holy Land, in light of the tragic events of recent days.”

NPM14_peaceCatholics around the globe followed suit on Twitter using the hashtag #pauseforpeace while posting images of lit candles or groups gathered to pray for peace.  On Tuesday, July 15th at 9:00 PM Central, OCP will live stream a Concert for Peace that will take place during the 2014 National Association of Pastoral Musicians Conference. Un Concierto por la Paz/A Concert for Peace will bring together different languages and cultures to pray for peace.  You can sign up here  for an email reminder and PDF songbook for this live concert event.

You can also sign up here to receive a link to the LiveStream NPM Showcase on Thursday, July 17 at 1:00 PM Central and an interactive PDF of the 2014 Showcase book—featuring sheet music for 12 songs performed during the event. You will also be entered to win a prize package of a Spirit & Song hymnal and a free 60-day subscription to an All-Inclusive Digital Edition of Spirit & Song.
