Huntington, NY – The leaders of Region II, consisting of eight dioceses throughout the State of New York, had their first regional training in preparation of the V National Encuentro Hispano/Latino de Pastoral. The formation of the leaders was held in Huntington, New York on July 15-16, 2015 at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception.

The orientation was led by Bishop Nelson Perez who serves as Region II’s Lead Bishop for the V Encuentro. Bishop Perez encouraged the participants to continue to work on measures that ensure the conclusions of the Encuentro result in the betterment of services for Hispanic and non-Hispanic parishioners of the Region. Alejandro Aguilera–Titus, Representative of the Subcommittee on Hispanic Affairs of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Region II Chairperson, Wanda F. Vasquez, Director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry in the Archdiocese of New York, and Rodolfo Vargas IV, Consultant, presented at the training using the methodology of a missionary Church based on the concepts of Communion and Mission with special focus on those living in poverty and those who have strayed away from the Catholic Church.
